Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs, is seeking an Emergency Duty Worker/Case Assistant for Buffalo Narrows to support children and families using the Family Centered Case Management Model. The ministry offers meaningful work in a community-based setting, providing emergency and daytime services that help protect vulnerable children, stabilize families in crisis, and strengthen community connections.

The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, riskassessment and decisionmaking skills, along with a sincere commitment to relationshipbuilding. Knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, especially relating to First Nations and Metis communities, and an understanding of poverty, systemic barriers and socioeconomic issues are important in supporting families effectively.

Key qualifications include a diploma or degree in a human service-related field, experience in human service settings, and eligibility to operate a motor vehicle in Saskatchewan. Candidates must be willing to work a biweekly emergency rotation that includes afterhours, weekends and holidays; travel; work flexible hours; and lift or carry small children.

Knowledge and skills required include understanding humanservices practices, documenting case information, coordinating referrals, supporting case conferences and maintaining respectful relationships with clients, foster families, biological families and community partners.

Responsibilities include accompanying case workers on protection investigations, assessing child abuse and neglect referrals, determining child safety risks, developing safety plans, observing and recording interviews, assisting with placement options, coordinating services, researching case files, transporting families and providing emergency aid as required.
